The government is set to auction off five luxury vehicles seized by the Bureau of the Customs to raise additional revenues, the Bureau of the Treasury announced on Thursday, Dec. 2.

In a statement posted on its website, the treasury bureau said the government will dispose through public auction each of 2008 Ferrari Scuderia 430, 2001 Porsche Boxster, 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK350, 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK55 and 2011 Mercedes Benz E220.

Seized in May and June this year, the five used luxury cars will be put on the auction block on an “as is where is” basis on Dec. 13, 2021, the bureau said.

To ensure transparency and promote competition, an Inter-Agency Auction Committee composed of the Customs, the Treasury and the Land Bank of the Philippines was also formed.

“BOC’s partnership with reputable government agencies and the shift to an open process send a strong signal to the public that this administration is very serious in addressing collusion in the disposal of smuggled goods,” the government said.

The auction process will be livestreamed through the official Facebook pages of the Customs, the Treasury and Land Bank.,

“Interested bidders can register with the BOC from December 2-9, 2021. Inspection dates are set on December 9-10, 2021 at PUC Grounds, Gate 3, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila,” the government said.

In a public auction notice, the 2001 Porsche Boxster is listed with a floor price of P1.79 million, while the 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK350 has a starting price of P1.24 million.

Meanwhile, the guide price for 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK55 starts at P1.32 million and the 2011 Mercedes Benz E220 has a starting bid of P1.49 million.

On the other hand, the Ferrari Scuderia 430 is going to auction with a P23.22 million floor price.
