Toshiba to expand business in Philippines


The Toshiba Group is committed to expanding its business in the Philippines to help contribute to the country’s exports industry, its top official said.

Toshiba’s three manufacturing facilities in Laguna Technopark and Carmelray Industrial Park generated 6.6 percent of the Philippines’ total electronics exports value in the first half of 2021, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc., Toshiba’s strategic data storage manufacturing facility in the Philippines, and Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corp. Have been awarded the Billionaires Award by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for the third consecutive year.

“We are honored to receive this award for three consecutive years. Since we began operations in 1996, we believe in empowering the local community and have a local staff strength of more than 11,000 employees and also contribute to creating direct and indirect employment in the supply chain. This is our 25th year of operations and we are committed to expand our business centered on nearline HDD series and contribute to the Philippine economy,” said Jun Ito, president and representative director, Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines) Inc.

The company manufactures HDD or data storage devices that range from client HDD for personal computers, gaming console and car navigation system, enterprise HDD installed in servers, to nearline HDD for data centers, servers, and surveillance camera systems, and solid state drives for personal computers, and server applications.

Despite the pandemic, the company continued its manufacturing operations while supporting the health and safety of employees and business partners by implementing stringent workplace measures.

Last year, the company posted sales of $2.2 billion.
