Ruel Bermudez, who worked abroad as an IT project manager and senior web developer established a Sole Proprietorship company engaged in providing affordable and effective web-based business IT solutions by developing different online products and services that will be marketed and for targeted users.
He started the Bermudez Software Development in November 2020 when everyone was feeling the downside effect of the pandemic on the economy.
The startup company participated in the government’s funding program called iFWD PH conducted by the Department of Science and Technology and was provided with a total innovation funding of PHP210,329 for the acquisition of hardware, cloud hosting subscription, and vulnerability assessment and penetration testing for the development of the “eBarangayPH System”.
The “eBarangayPH System” is an online information system and an e-governance solution designed to use a systematic approach in managing: resident records, blotters, hearing and settlement records, certificates and permit issuance, resident ID system, information dissemination, and crisis management in the Barangay level, a smallest administrative division in the country.
Bermudez’s counterpart funding will cover web development, marketing, and training, as well as rent and utility expenses.
DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña, the funding that the DOST would provide is a loan, and Bermudez would return the amount with no interest.
The company plans to migrate from a shared server hosting to a dedicated server to accommodate high throughput and concurrency, alongside the development of a mobile application for both android and iOS users.
A technology-based enterprise advisor, who is also an expert in developing management information systems, will be assigned to provide technical assistance to Bermudez’s startup company.
