P2 billion cash assistance has been given to some 506,415 displaced workers in the tourism industry as of May 5, the Department of Tourism chief said.
The agency was allotted P3.1 billion for cash aid to pandemic-hit workers under the Bayanihan 2 program of the government.

P6 billion was allotted as a 4-year to pay working capital loan for small and medium enterprises with zero interest, no collateral, and a 1-year grace period.
Around 4.8 million of the sector’s total 5.7 million workforce were affected by the pandemic, according to the tourism chief.

In February, they were able to include the tourism frontliners on the priority list for vaccination. While the agency is still fighting for other tourism frontliners who are in restaurants, drivers, and media to be included in the list.
