The Department of Health (DOH) said that it has identified the thirteen close contacts of the Filipino seafarer from Oman who tested positive for the B.1.617 variant first detected in India. These passengers were on the same flight with the 37-year old OFW who arrived in the Philippines on April 10.
In an interview, the chief of the health department clarified that close contact in an airplane means the distance of four seats behind, and four seats in front, and the one person beside as the protocol.
DOH is verifying the results of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test of the 13 close contacts upon their arrival in the country.
Meanwhile, the agency is still trying to have access to the flight manifest of the other 58-year-old OFW who arrived in the Philippines from the United Arab Emirates on April 29, the chief said.
According to DOH, both cases have already recovered from COVID-19.
