A stand-alone facility for coronavirus (COVID19) patients that need to undergo hemodialysis was launched at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) in Quezon City on Wednesday, May 5.
It has 20 dialysis stations and operates three sessions a day that can service up to 60 patients per day.
“The project is in line with the NKTI’s thrust to improve not only the delivery of its healthcare services for patients but also to provide adequate temporary shelter for its healthcare workers responding to the national emergency,” NKTI said
A 32-bed air-conditioned dormitory complete with amenities for healthcare workers was also opened at the NKTI.
The facility was built using prefabricated panels and has wide hallways, two isolation rooms, and four hepatitis rooms aside from dialysis stations.
The project is also in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH), and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
