TikTok launches new tools to fight bullying on its platform

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile videos, recently introduced measures giving creators more control, and manage interactions with their content more easily. This is to help creators on the app who have complained of bullying and harassment.
The feature allows creators to bulk delete comments or report users who they feel violate the TikTok Community Guidelines in batches of up to 100. Accounts that post bullying or other negative comments can also be blocked in bulk.
Tara Wadhwa, director of policy for TikTok US, said: “Our goal is to promote a positive environment where people support and lift each other up.”
The platform also recently introduced a way to filter all comments so that only those a creator chooses would appear on their content. Prior to that, a comment-prompt feature was introduced, which encouraged users to reconsider leaving a potentially hurtful comment on a video. It also reminds users about TikTok’s guidelines and allows them to edit their comments before posting.
Additionally, users aged 13 to 17 have additional safeguards on their accounts designed to promote an age-appropriate experience, including restrictions on Duet, Stitch, DMs, and comments.
TikTok is working on developing more tools and educating teens and families about bullying prevention as part of its ongoing efforts to combat bullying on the platform.
