Users of mobile wallet GCash continue to soar, counting 46 million as of July this year, its operator, Mynt, announced Monday.
“From 44 million in June, there are now 46 million GCash users as of July,” Mynt chief executive officer Martha Sazon said in a virtual briefing.
She said that as part of improving its services amid the pandemic, GCash is waiving the remittance fee during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), or from Aug. 6 to 20.
“During ECQ, sending money will be free of charge to provide a helping hand during these trying times,” Sazon remarked.
The app, she said, caters to up to 15 million logins daily. Further, the app has over 2.5 million registered merchants, with a monthly gross transaction value of PHP200 billion.
Sazon also noted that amid the pandemic, GCash continues to help local government units in disbursing their social amelioration fund.
GCash is among the venture builder 917Ventures portfolio of companies.
In the same briefing, it was also reported that other portfolio companies such as KonsultaMD and HealthNow also exhibited significant growth during the second quarter of the year.
Both apps have been leading in the health and medical category in the App Store and Google Play, as the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic prompted Filipinos to seek online health consultations.
Consultations via KonsultaMD rose to 305 percent compared to the same period last year.
HealthNow app, which offers teleconsultation and online delivery of medicines, will soon offer scheduling of clinics and diagnostics.
